Paintings

In my paintings I enjoy exploring flesh. Flesh tones, meats, juicy, beautiful, gross. During my exploration, I became restless painting on flat surfaces. In a rebellious response to this, I decided to paint on unfinished wood boxes. I really enjoy the interaction with the viewer. I like watching their expressions change when they open the boxes and see what is inside.

Artist Statement

My latest mission in art is to express the importance of getting back in touch with nature.  Aesthetically, I have always been interested in nature.  I enjoy going on hikes and taking pictures of the beautiful things, untouched by man.  I want to remind people that we are a part of the Earth and the Earth is a part of us.  I love wood grain, bark and knarled dead trees; the pattern of decay and how things breakdown over time, especially when it inspires new growth.  I like when nature reclaims manmade objects, such as ruins, vine overgrowth. I am fascinated with the textures that nature forms without the interference of man.  I also am interested in the human figure which is another beautiful example of nature.
